Sambhota Tibetan School Sonada has been a name since the school was taken over by the DoE, CTA from the Central Tibetan Schools Administration, MHRD India on 5th May 2018. This takeover was intended to cater to the academic needs of Tibetan children.

Since 1975, the school, then known as the Central School for Tibetan Sonada, has been serving the educational needs of Tibetan children residing in the Tibetan settlement here. The number of students who graduated from the school between 1994 and 2020 totals 776.

The journey has been amazing. Currently, we have 130 students enrolled in classes 1 through 10 for the 2022 session. Founded on the principle of secular ethics, the school aims to provide quality education. This has been the school’s commitment since 2018.

The pandemic has had the hardest hit on the education sector. Although online education was available, it was superficial. After the schooling has been relaxed with the decrease in infection, we are happy to have children for physical classes. In light of the school’s assessment of the student’s academic level, we are now ready to bridge the huge gap left behind by the pandemic. We are very hopeful that an equilibrated standard will be reached by the end of the session. Once again, our teachers will play a vital role in bridging the gap, and they are on their way.

The Continuous Teachers Professional Development Program at Sambhota Tibetan School, Sonada aims to bring about a change in the approach to teaching and learning. Child-centric teaching has been a key focus since the school was taken over. The school’s vision and objective are SMART based i.e., specific, measurable, achievable, realistic, and time-bound. I am confident that we will meet our target with the team I have.
